Glazed Pottery Water Dropper, Yuan dynasty
This water dropper is in the shape of a recumbent ox. The pottery is hollow with a big round hole on the body and a small one at the mouth. These two round holes are for filling and dropping water. The thumb covers the larger hole, and this hole is slowly uncovered to release small amounts of water dropping out from the smaller hole onto the inkstone for the purpose of grinding ink sticks.
